I've been contemplating if I should have my letter be a "J" like my name,
or something else. I think I'm leaning more toward the letter "Y" because it's my favorite part to write of my name—Jayden.
Regarding the typeface, I've been browsing different ones and I wanted something that resembled how I write my "Y"—like a cursive "Y," but I've come to realize that it doesn't necessarily fit with the theme of my design. In retrospect, I'll be using a more classic typeface. I want to do something that either involves books, pages from books, or sheet music, and I think something more along the lines of American Typewriter or Courier New would work better if I specifically go for the book design.
I've considered taking a book and cutting it into the shape of a "Y" and plastering book pages on the outside of it, but cutting a book into a letter isn't as creative as I could get since I have seen those sold in stores (and I wanted them). So, I've decided to cut a "Y" out of a book and having the negative space be my letter, and be able to see the pages inside the book, like this:
I found something that I thought would work but the dimensions don't work, unfortunately, so I'm going to find some more resources and work on it. I have some free books I got from the library to plaster on it, and I'm thinking of finding maybe a map book or something of the sort that would be the correct size.
The construction will begin tomorrow and I'm prepared to fall back on a "plan b" and, hopefully, there's no need for a "plan c." I just think the skeleton and basic structure will have to change, if needed, not the overall design.
I also plan to photograph it where I would find it naturally, so maybe in a library, a bookshelf, and on a desk. I think the lighting would work best to have the main source of light in front of it and to also sometimes see the letter shadow taking place behind it. Overall, I'm really excited to get to work on it.

| This is kind of my inspiration, but bigger and pages will be as if they're escaping from the book. |

| I also considered this, but it seemed a bit too ambitious. |
